Components of A DOT Physical Exam:
The DOT physical consists:
- Vital signs: Checking your blood pressure, pulse rate, and ensuring they are within the required range.
- Vision Ensuring a 20/40 acuity in each eye, with or without corrective lenses.
- Hearing: We measure the hearing with a forced whispered voice from a distance of 5 feet with or without a hearing aid. The pure tone audiometry is available as well at our facility.
Comprehensive Physical Exam: This covers: - Eye conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts.
- Ear conditions, including damage to the eardrum.
- Throat and mouth check for any difficulties in swallowing or breathing.
- Examination of extremities for limb impairment.
- Heart conditions including murmurs, irregular sounds, or the presence of a pacemaker.
- Checking the vascular system for irregular pulses, varicose veins, etc.
- Lungs and chest examination for any breathing difficulties or impaired respiratory functions.
- Abdominal checks for enlarged liver, viscera, or muscle weakness.
